I was born at a young age in Lynn, MA. We moved to Newton, NH when I was very young, where we stayed until I was 6 years old. My mother was a single parent at the time and we moved into a “not so great” apartment complex in a “not much better” part of town! So at the end of the day, I grew up in a town/city in Massachusetts called Haverhill (Hey-vrill).
I always had fun as a kid, even when I was by myself! My mother married my stepfather (the only father I ever knew) when I was around 8 years old.
I was definitely a product of the 1980′s. Arcades, Saturday morning cartoons, and staying out until the sun set!
As I grew up I just didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I dropped out of High School my senior year (yes very stupid!) and joined the Army. I got my GED while in Basic training at Fort Benning in GA.
I have a younger sister whom I love dearly (Kelley). She is 9 years younger than me. I also have a younger brother who is so much like me it scares everyone (Colin) who is 18 years younger than I am. I am indifferent towards him (hehe)
Before & after I got out of the Army, I got into some trouble (sometimes with the law), but finally decided to settle down and try to be a productive member of society when I met my future wife!
I did a lot of bouncing around until I decided on the Tech Industry. I started out as a Help Desk Tech, then Desktop Support, then before I knew it, I was managing the Helpdesk/Desktop support department.
I went to several different companies building support departments from scratch, then running them. This finally landed me deep in NH where I built & managed a department for a contract manufacturer
This is where my love of food started. For the first time in my life I had cable/satellite and started watching cooking shows. I am a huge Science Fiction fan, so I had to fit them in between X-Files and family.
I had my son, and right around September 11, 2001 I lost my job due to layoffs. I started my own company, and that is when I really started watching the Food Network. I would sit at my desk all day working, and just leave it on in the background.
I bought a huge Smoker, and a LOT of cooking paraphernalia. We bought 3 full size freezers, and extra refrigerator, and built a room just for cooking supplies and food/spices.
I loved cooking for get togethers, and trying new things. I started to amass my own recipes, and even started cooking for others/fund raisers.
I eventually sold my business (Summer 2011) and in trying to figure out my next move, I enrolled in college (MIS major) and decided to start Menu From Mars as a creative outlet!
As you can see, I have no ads & I don’t sell anything. This, for the time being, is simply a labor of love for me.
So, for now, I am just going to keep plugging away, making my shows, reviewing places I like to eat & making silly commercials! Of course if anyone out there would like to pay me to do this, throw money at me to advertise, or set my up with my own show on TV… I’m all ears! Otherwise, that is a brief history of me. Please enjoy the site. It is all in fun!
